Fern Katherine Schultz (Ritze)

Fern K. Schultz, 85, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Center Point, died there Saturday, April 11, 2009. Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson and Ken Graham. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Lyle (Joyce) Schultz of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Linda Sue Schultz of Center Point; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; sister, Vera Meyer; brother-in-law, Fred Schultz; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; sons, Stanley who died February 27, 1965 and Clyde who died November 17, 2008; daughter-in-law, Mary; sister, Emma Schuch; and brother, Melvin Ritze.
Born December 8, 1923, in Alburnett, Iowa, Fern was the daughter of Vernon and Clara (Notbohm) Ritze. On January 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Schultz. He died November 2, 1987. She worked at the Linn County Nursery in Center Point and later for J.C. Pennys in Cedar Rapids.
