Faye Lucille Sperfslage, 91, of Earlville, Iowa, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, surrounded by her family, the day before her 92nd birthday, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester. Visitation: 2:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville, with visitation from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Earlville.
Faye’s parents were Wayne and Lucille Kauffman of rural Colesburg. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, William and Blanche Moser in Colesburg. She attended Colesburg Consolidated School, graduating in 1943 with a teaching certificate. She taught several years in rural schools in the Hopkinton area.
On June 1, 1948, James J. Sperfslage and Faye Kauffman were married at Sand Springs Immaculate Conception Church. They farmed at rural Edgewood for a year, then settled north of Earlville where the couple farmed forty years until retiring at Earlville in 1991.
Children born to this union were Steven Sperfslage, deceased, Philip Sperfslage, Kaye (Ted) Wall, Mark (Joellen) Sperfslage, and infant, deceased, and Paul (Ann) Sperfslage.
Grandchildren include Cari (Ramon) Redondo, Nicole (Joe) Munson, Steven (Staci) Sperfslage and Kristin Sperfslage; and great-grandchildren, Ray Redondo, Aubrey and Nathan Munson, Skyla Sperfslage; step-grandchildren, Troy (Tracey) Eickstaedt, Alicia (Shawn) Kimball, and Megan (Chris) Osborne; step-great-grandchildren, Haley and Dominique Eickstaedt, and Hadley Osborne; brother, Russell (Betty) Kauffman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Kauffman, Bob Auman, Avalo Berns, Herbert (Theresia) Sperfslage,
Family members preceding her in death were siblings and spouses, Lowell (Madonna) Kauffman, Marjorie (Ray) McDowell, Annola (Al) Keegan, Cyril Kauffman, Warren (Fonda) Kauffman, Clark (Dolly) Kauffman, George Kauffman, June Auman, Lucille Berns, and Bob (Helen) Sperfslage; and daughter-in-law, Dianne Sperfslage.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice, the Good Neighbor Home, or St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville.
