Everett Henry Usher, 81, of 4845 Johnson Avenue N.W., Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in his home from natural causes. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Pearl) of Greeley, Colorado, Steve (Rosemary) of Hazleton, Iowa, and Brian (Kelly) of Brighton, Colorado; three sisters, Terry O?Neal and Louise (Tom) Cunningham of Cedar Rapids, and Loretto (LaVerne) Perry of Hazelton; five grandchildren, two great grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Catherine Durr of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester and Earl; and infant brother, Leo; one sister-in-law, Rita (Crofter) Usher; and two grandchildren in infancy.
Everett was born October 5, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Myrtle (Duffy) Usher. He graduated from St. Patrick?s school in Cedar Rapids and attended the University of Iowa. He married Doris Mae Winter in 1946. They later divorced. Everett served in the Army in Europe during WWII. He worked for Collins Radio before moving to Denver, Colorado. In Colorado he worked for Martin Marietta and Sylvania Electronics, retiring from Pentax Camera in Denver and then moved to Oregon. In May 2005, he moved to Cedar Rapids to be closer to his family.
