Everett E. Sproston, 92, of 57 Birch Drive, Marion, died Friday, June 11, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness. Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Marion Congregation-Kingdom Hall, 1221 Center Point Road NE, Cedar Rapids, by Ted Nunemaker. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Cecile; two sons, Lauren (Maureen) Sproston of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and Ethan (Sandra) Sproston of Marion; a sister, Leota Klinefelter of Branson, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alton "Art? Sproston; five brothers; and four sisters.

Everett was born the son of George W. and Jennie Collins Sproston on November 5, 1911, in Cedar Township, Johnson County Iowa. On March 24, 1934, he was united in marriage to Cecile Marie Cook in Monticello, Iowa. In his younger years, Everett farmed in Jones County. In 1941, he began working for LaPlant Choate and retired in 1970 from Harnischfeger Corporation as a millwright. Everett was a member of the Marion Congregation-Jehovah?s Witnesses and United Auto Workers, Local 1316.

Everett enjoyed farming with his team of horses. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher and bowler.
