Evelyn M. Owens

Evelyn M. Owens, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will host a Celebration of Life from 4 – 6 p.m. on May 4, 2024, at Cherry Hill Park Pavilion, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, assisted the family.
Evelyn was born November 18, 1935, in Shellsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Gladys (Sanders) Ferguson. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton, Iowa. On March 23, 1957, Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert “Dean” Owens. She worked as an agent at Davis, Jones, & Lamb Insurance Agency. Evelyn enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo and the Iowa lottery. Evelyn was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and Dallas Cowboys. She loved hunting mushrooms, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially when she would cook for the holiday meals. Evelyn will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Dean” Owens; sons, Dave, and Darren Owens; grandchildren, Eric Owens, Daryl Owens (Ciera Wood), Tori Hale and Dan (Amanda) Owens; great-granddaughters, Daelyn, Adelyn, Darcie Owens, Quinn Hale, Daisy and Daphne Owens, and another on the way; in-laws, Virginia Ferguson; Doris and Melvin Burt, Jim Owens; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dena M. Owens; sister, Vivian Ferguson; brothers, Marvin, Louis, Warren (Janelle), and Raymond L. (Betty) Ferguson; and in-laws, Raymond (Joyce) Owens and Don (Elaine) Owens.
