Evelyn Kay Konigsmark, 64, of 2205 Cherry Lane NE, Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 3, 2005, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2005, at Hope United Church of Christ, 150 9th Ave., Hiawatha, by the Rev. Fredrich Mellberg. Burial: Lowden Cemetery, Lowden, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Konigsmark; three sons, Dan and wife Ann Brendes and their children, Kyle, Keith and Joselyn of Frisco, Texas, Michael Brendes of Cedar Rapids and Tim and wife Trudee Brendes and their children, Natilee and Lauren of Alburnett; and three stepsons, Robert and wife Robin Konigsmark and their children, Sydney and Broc of Lincoln, Nebraska, Richard and wife Denise Konigsmark and their children, Bryce and Tori Jo of Blairstown, and David and wife Tonya Konigsmark of North Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Kenneth P. Brendes.
Evelyn was born October 6, 1941, in Lowden, Iowa, the daughter of Julius and Maye Behrens Meier. She married Kenneth P. Brendes on October 20, 1962, in Lowden. He died June 16, 1995. Evelyn and Robert F. Konigsmark were united in marriage on July 3, 1998, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Evelyn had worked at Taft Junior High School and later at the Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of Hope United Church of Christ.
Evelyn loved to read books, travel, play cards, listen to music and spend time with friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Memorials may be given in memory of Evelyn for breast cancer research through the American Cancer Society, 603 10th Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
