Evelyn Anita Irvin, 62, of 136 21st Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends, Tuesday, December 30, 2008. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Dr. Leonard Ranson. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, David (Kristen) Irvin of Cedar Rapids and Wendy (Kevin) Grendler of Coggon; five grandchildren, Kevin Allan, Brandon, Wesley, J.D. and Austin; two brothers, Arthur (Lisa) McGowan and James (Kelly) McGowan; two sisters, Denise (Joel) Hartman and Marlene (Michael) Riley; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
Evelyn was born May 25, 1946, the daughter of Ernest and Neita (Dodge) McGowan, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1964, she married David Irvin. Evelyn worked for the Cedar Rapids School District for over 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, traveling, nature and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 383 Collins Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, in memory of Evelyn.
