Evelyn L. Humphreys (Wise)

Evelyn L. Wise Humphreys, 85, of Northbrook Care Center, Cedar Rapids passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, following a stroke. Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the funeral home. Entombment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her brothers, Manuel, Richard, Melvin Wise and their families; sisters-in-law, June, Liz and Julie Wise and Alice Broxey; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; three sisters, Ruth Jean Wise, Phyllis Wennermark and Thelma Humphreys; brothers, Leonard, Laurence and Leland Wise.
Evelyn was born January 15, 1926, the daughter of John and Luella (Myers) Wise, in Athol, South Dakota. She attended Roosevelt High School. On September 19, 1947, Evelyn was united in marriage to Richard Humphreys in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He passed away on February 24, 2004. Evelyn was a long time member of the First Christian Church where she had many good friends. She was an avid sports fan, bird watcher and loved dancing.
