Evelyn Ada Flitsch
October 19, 1916 — August 11, 2003
Evelyn Ada Flitsch, 86, formerly of Alburnett, died in Hospice care after a short illness with cancer on Monday, August 11, 2003, in Gilbert, Arizona. Memorial services to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held on September 13th, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church, Alburnett, Iowa and on October 10, 2003 in Gilbert, Arizona. Inurnment will be at Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Edward) Burrell of Roseville, Minnesota, David (Susan) Flitsch of Gold Canyon, Arizona, and Patricia (Kenneth) Mack of Gilbert, Arizona; and a sister, Phyllis Sayles of Sarasota, Florida.
Also surviving are six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ada Peterson; her husband, Dale; brothers, Daniel and Dale Peterson; and sisters, Violet Hutchins, Edith Peterson, Arlys Collagon, Mildred Stickney, Bernice Davis and Carol Kovatovich.
Evelyn Peterson was born October 19, 1916, in Luther, Iowa, and graduated from Marion High School in 1934. She lived in the Marion and Alburnett areas for seventy years. On April 15, 1939, she was united in marriage to Dale Flitsch. He died September 18, 1984. Evelyn was a homemaker. In her early years, she worked as a waitress and dental assistant in Cedar Rapids. In later years she was employed as a sales clerk at Younker?s Department Store. Evelyn enjoyed family, singing, gardening, golf, reading and handwork.
