Evelyn M. Estling, 87, of 6110 Dakota Drive, Marion, passed away May 3, 2005, at the Hospice House of Northern Iowa, Mason City, after a short illness while visiting her daughter. Funeral Mass will be held 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, by Father José Comparán. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday (May 6) Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, where a Parish Vigil service will begin at 5 p.m.
Evelyn is survived by her four children, Janice K. Lampe (Donald) of Cedar Rapids, Kenneth P. Estling (Kathy) of Altoona, Mary L. Wali (Bakir) of Garner and Dean E. Estling (Christine) of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice E. Rittmer of Silver Lake, Wisconsin.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Leonard; her parents, Edward C. Kinley and Winifred J. O?Hara Kinley; two brothers, Joseph R. Kinley and Hubert L. Kinley; a sister, Mildred C. Hildebrand; a grandson, Stephen L. Hogan; and brothers-in-law, Lee O. Rittmer and John V. Hildebrand.
She was born on the Linn County line, northeast of Coggon on November 7, 1917. Evelyn married Leonard W. Estling on April 8, 1942. They farmed south of Manchester until December 1965. They moved to Iowa City and both were employed by the University of Iowa. She retired in 1981 and they moved to Marion in 1997. Evelyn graduated from Coggon High School in 1934.
