Evelyn I. Edmonds-Fichtner, 81, died Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids, following complications of age.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 1 Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev. James Leatherwood. Friends may call from 4-8 on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include five children, Bill (Mary) Edmonds, Ramona Yeisley, Don (Debbie) Edmonds, Norma (Russ) Roland and Mary Lou Alberts, all of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Lucille Zamastil of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harold Edmonds and George Fichtner; a son, Dewey Edmonds; and a sister, Fern.
Evelyn was born January 15, 1924, the daughter of Dewey S. and Esther F. (Pierson) Hepker in Palo, Iowa. She was a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids. On May 8, 1941, Evelyn was united in marriage to Harold B. Edmonds. Harold died in 1973. On April 8, 1983 she married George Fitchner, who died in September of 2000. She was a homemaker and worked as a hostess for John B. Turner & Sons for twenty-six years.
