Evalyn Leola Bickford, 76, of 502 Greene St, Walker, died of leukemia at home, Wednesday, February 19, 2003. Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2003, by Rev. David Siler at Walker United Methodist Church, Walker. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2003, at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean E. (Dennis) Fritz of Columbus Junction, Joy M. (Vernon) Jons of Walker, and Jan D. Lopata and fiancé Darin Tennyson of Quasqueton; a sister, Elnora (Glen) Hansen of Lakewood, Wisconsin; a brother, Frank (Iva Jean) King of Walker; a daughter-in-law, Jeanie (Bickford) Bowers; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; a son, Delbert (Billy) Bickford, her brother, Russell King and her parents.
Evalyn was born January 2, 1927, in rural Brandon, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle (Lawless) King. She married William D. Bickford in Vinton, Iowa, on March 8, 1946. Evalyn was a homemaker. She was an eleven year member of American Legion Auxillary, Allen Wright Hanft Unit 100, Columbus Junction and a member of Walker United Methodist Church. Evalyn has many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She will be greatly missed by her family.
