Eunice E. Koeppen, 83, of Marion, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Faith Lutheran Church, Marion. The family will greet friends between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial: 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Delbert “Toby” Koeppen; three sons, Eric (Cathy) Koeppen of Marion, Noel (Ann) Koeppen of Marion, and James (Kristin) Koeppen of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Norma) Butters of Flower Mound, TX, and special friend, Sharon Grundy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, “Pete” Leland Butters.
Eunice was born November 25, 1928, in Colesburg, IA, the daughter of Roy and Jesse (Barnhart) Butters. She graduated from Guttenburg High School in 1946 and went on to attend Wartburg College. She married Delbert Koeppen on September 8, 1951 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenburg. Eunice was a teacher for Keystone, IA, Tillamonk, OR, and Marion schools and worked for Smulekoffs for 25 years. She was a member of a bridge club and a Charter Member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion.
