Eulabelle Spaight, 94, of Walker, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the Walker United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Diane Mitchell. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Walker. Burial: Quasqueton Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Mardella (Bob) Sorensen of Walker; two grandchildren, Allen (Jacqui) Sorensen of Cedar Rapids and Kim (Dennis) Ternes of Marion; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Sara Ternes and Chaz and Kathy Sorensen; a sister-in-law, Helen Peyton of Coggon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; three brothers, Earl, Walter and Frank; and four sisters, Helen, Ona, Dorthy and Ruth.
Eulabelle was born February 12, 1914, the daughter of Jacob and Ica (Sauer) Peyton, on a farm in Buchanan County, Iowa. On November 16, 1933, she was united in marriage to Raymond Spaight in Galena, Illinois. They farmed all their married life. He died on December 18, 1977. Eulabelle then moved to Walker, Iowa. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America since 1953. On March 16, 1987, Eulabelle was baptized at the Church of Christ United at Winthrop, Iowa. Her hobbies were ceramics, crafts and spending time with her family and friends.
