Eugene Arling Hoppe
August 9, 1932 — March 5, 2003
Eugene Arling Hoppe, 70, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Debra Jones of Weaver, Iowa, Henry (Debra) Hoppe of Cedar Rapids, Deanna Thompson, Kim Knotts, both of Weaver, Brian Hoppe, Colleen Hoppe, Travis Hoppe and Jessica Hoppe, all of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Hoppe of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Jacqueline.
Eugene was born August 9, 1932, the son of Arling and Alberta Mefford Hoppe, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked for Quaker Oats and Insect Control Specialists. Eugene was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Eugene.
