Etta M. Hamlett, 73, of Manchester, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at her son’s home in Dundee.
Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Manchester conducted by Rev. Kurt Pasko and Rev. Tim Miller.
Visitation: 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester, IA.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 29 at the Edgewood Cemetery, Edgewood, IA.
Etta Marie was born in Clayton County on January 25, 1940, the daughter of Alfred and Ethel Timmerman. On October 19, 1957, she was united in marriage to Chester “Chet” Hamlett at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee.
Etta owned and operated Hamlett Upholstery for more than 40 years in Manchester. Etta was a member of the Community Congregational Church in Manchester, and a longtime member of O.E.S,
Etta is survived by a son, Kevin (Tammy “Autumn”) Hamlett of Dundee; a daughter, Penny (Gary) Sands of Manchester; 8 grandchildren, Nichole (Joe) Axline, Stacy (Marty) Then, Adam (Jaci Vontalge) Hamlett, Clint Johns, Jessica (Jose Torres) Callaway, Jason (Leslie Ponsell) Johns, Susan (Travis) Crippen, and Mitch Sands; 13 great-grandchildren, Kaitylin, Miranda, Hannah and Jay Axline, Destiny Callaway, Lanie and Landon Then, Chloe and Tristan Johns, Ireland, Layla, Tyreese and Carver Crippen ; one sister, Roberta (John) Weis of Manchester; 2 brothers-in-law, Lyle (Alice) Hamlett and Bryce (Janette) Hamlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Chet in 1996; her parents, Alfred and Ethel Timmerman; two brothers and a sister in infancy; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Sands.
A memorial fund has been established in Etta’s memory.
