Ethel M. Stimson, 94, a longtime resident of Marion, died Friday, June 24, 2005, in Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Burial: Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Shirley Twiselton and husband Don of Cedar Rapids and Donald Stimson and wife Peg of Aurora, Illinois.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two cousins, Les Rowse and wife Viv of Marion and Iola Mosher of Florida.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernal, who died in 1988; a son Darrell; and an infant grandson.

Ethel was born the daughter of Wayne and Mabel Rowse Jewell on May 7, 1911, in Aurora, Iowa. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1929. On December 11, 1931 in Galena, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Vernal Stimson. The couple moved to Marion in 1936. Ethel retired from United Fire and Casualty Company, where she worked in the coding department. Ethel was a member of Daughters of the Nile.
