Ethel A. Schanbeck, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, August 30, 2003, in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Graveside Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at Pineview Cemetery, Delaware, Iowa. Friends may call briefly at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Local arrangements are with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley (Melvin) German, Margie Main, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Evelyn (Wayne) Feally of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; a sister, Regina Bloomquist of Yellville, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Allen Wall.
Ethel was born January 1, 1908, the daughter of Eugene and Adeline Allen Wall, in Taylor Township, Dubuque County, Iowa. On December 8, 1935, she married Evlon Schanbeck in Manchester, Iowa. He died in 1946. Ethel worked as a nurse?s aide for St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for many years, retiring in 1973.
