Esther M. Parker, 86, of Marshalltown, formerly of Central City, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at the Iowa Veterans Home, following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2006, at Center Point Road Church of Christ by Minister David Graham. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle of Marshalltown; her children, Isla (Dwayne) Powell of Central City, Jerry Parker of Marion and Sandie (Terry) Tull of Center Point; a sister, Virginia Hixon of Grant, Nebraska; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Judy Parker of Central City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas W., two brothers, Harold and Eryle; and a sister, Betty.
Esther was born January 21, 1920, the daughter of Guy and Mary (Leetch) Woods in Blue Hill, Nebraska. On February 14, 1942, she married Thomas "Lyle? Parker in Imperial, Nebraska. Together, they farmed in eastern Colorado prior to moving to Central City in 1954. She was an Avon Sales Representative for seventeen years. Esther was a member of Center Point Road Church of Christ.
