Esther May Burbridge
June 12, 1911 — April 29, 2005
Esther M. Burbridge, 93, formerly of Greeley and Delhi, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, after complications from congestive heart failure.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday May 3, 2005 at the Delhi United Methodist Church, Delhi, with Rev. Julie May officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester, and an hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Grant View Cemetery in Greeley.
Esther was born on June 12, 1911 in Edgewood, the daughter of Clifford and Ruth (Lillibridge) Scovel. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1930. On June 3, 1934 Esther was united in marriage to Carl A. Burbridge in Greeley. The couple settled in Farmersburg, then moved to Blairstown. In 1943, they moved to Greeley and to Delhi in 1967. They retired in Delhi in 1970. Esther worked as a homemaker and in the Maquoketa Valley High School Cafeteria.
Esther was a past member of the Greeley United Methodist Church and a current member of the Delhi United Methodist Church. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing crafts, making angels, flowers, teddy bears, cats and dogs. Esther and Carl together enjoyed ballroom dancing and fishing. Carl died in 1993.
Esther?s family includes her two daughters, Jane B. (Bob) Orrison of Ellicott City, MD and Dorla (Hareld) Joslyn of Kennewick, WA; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Newell (Mona) Tinkey of Cedar Falls and a sister, Jean (Gene) Ruegnitz of Garber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Ruth; and her husband of 59 years, Carl Burbridge.
