Ernest Walter Wenhardt, 86, a resident of Bickford Cottage, died there Tuesday, October 3, 2006, following a short illness. There will be no visitation or services for Ernest. Arrangements with Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Ernest is survived by his two children, Brion Wenhardt and his wife Gail of Marion, Colin Wenhardt and his wife Francine of Santa Ana, California; five grandchildren, Stacy Schulte, Lauren Spottl, Scott Schwab, Melissa French and Joel Wenhardt; and a sister, Doreen Mason of Pasadena, California.
Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Jordan Schwab, Rylee Schwab, Tyson Schulte and Avery Schulte. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Art Wenhardt and Bill Wenhardt; and a sister, Louise Heuft.
Ernest was born the son of Matthew and Mary Wenhardt on February 29, 1920, in Saskatchewan, Canada. On September 14, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, he was united in marriage to Ruth Coleman. She died March 19, 2002. Ernest attended the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He has resided in the United States for fifty plus years. Ernest was employed as plant manager of U.S. Gypsum Co., a manufacturer of building materials, for over thirty years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.
