She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard John; daughter, Judith; son, Ronald; son-in-law, Daryl Zumbach; daughter-in-law, Julie Short; two grandsons, Chad Short and Dalton Hunsaker; and two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Sydney Steffen.
Erma was born March 10, 1915, the daughter of George Washington and Julia (Fest) Franck in Troy Mills, Iowa. On November 30, 1946, she married Richard John Short. Erma loved being with her family, especially her great grandchildren. Nothing brought a smile to her face more than when they would visit. An avid seamstress, she could easily embroider a dozen tea towels in two days flat, while baking pies and cookies to satisfy the hunger of any house guests that might stop for a visit. She always had a story to tell if you had a minute to listen and you would never leave her house empty handed. She will forever be remembered for her quick wit, generosity, and hardworking attitude. Many thanks to those that stopped, visited, and sent cards for her 100th birthday. She was so very proud and humbled to see so many people come and send her best wishes.
