Erma "Belle? Malone, 95, of Manchester, died Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester, following a lingering illness.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester with Rev. Msgr. Ralph Simington officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday with a Rosary Service at 4:00 and Scripture Service at 7:30 and for an hour before services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery, Masonville.
Belle was born on September 7, 1909 in Edgewood, the daughter of Fred & Emma (Barnes) Burgin. She was educated at the Edgewood schools. On February 20, 1926 Belle was united in marriage to Edward J. Malone in Masonville. The couple farmed in the Dundee area before moving to Manchester.
Belle was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester. She enjoyed music and playing the piano. Belle will be remembered for her quick wit and smile. She loved her family and was especially close to her sisters. Belle was a kind and thoughtful mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Belle is survived by three children, Bernard (Elda) Malone of Strawberry Point, William (Ruth) Malone of Marion, and Vera (Doug) Skeries of Cedar Rapids; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Belle was preceded in death by her parents, Fred & Emma Burgin; her husband, Edward Malone on February 21, 1974; a son, James Malone; three brothers, Joe, Carl & Ray Burgin; and five sisters, Bea Derr, Edna Fenton, Eva Opperman, Gayle Davis & Donna Maxwell.
