Eric Gaster
June 14, 1962 — October 14, 2023
Eric Gaster, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 14, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior.
Eric was born June 14, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Orval and Alma (Durham) Gaster. He graduated from Kennedy High School. Eric worked for 27 years as a custodian for the Cedar Rapids Community School District until his retirement in June 2023.
Eric was a true friend to many people and neighbors. At his job with CRCSD he helped many students who were having a bad day. Eric also lent a helping hand to many teachers. His schools were kept very clean. Eric enjoyed fishing, bike riding, metal music, the Dallas Cowboys, and taking walks.
Survivors include his siblings, Orval R. (Ginni) Gaster, Jr., Carl (Jill) Gaster, Gordon (Lori) Gaster, Carolyn (Norris) Peterson, Brenda (Bill) Sims, and Christine (Ron) Hoffman; special friends, Markan, Mike, Mark, John, and Kim; his fur baby, Lucky; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Alma Gaster; and sister, Cathy Houser.
