Sgt. Eric A. Ausborn, 22, United States Marine stationed in Georgia, died June 29, 2011.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Edgewood, with Mike Jackson officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. There will be a luncheon following the service at the Woods Edge Golf Course in Edgewood.
Eric was born July 27, 1988 in Phoenix, Arizona to Jerry and Jolene Ausborn. Jolene and Eric moved to Colesburg in 1990 and in 1991 created a family with Jeff, Lindsey and Courtney Niehaus. In 1993 Nikki joined them and they moved to their current residence outside of Edgewood. Eric graduated from Ed-Co high school in 2007 and immediately entered the Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Ca, Camp Lejune, NC and was currently assigned to Fort Benning in Georgia. On May 30, 2009 Eric married Laura Bottleman and they shared a life together at the various Marine Corps bases. They have two children, Owen 2 and Aunya 6 months old. Eric served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
Eric loved his family, his country, his God. He had a great appreciation for anything in nature and outdoors. He touched so many lives
He is survived by his wife Laura; two children, Owen and Aunya, at home; his parents Jeff and Jolene Niehaus of Edgewood; three sisters; Lindsey (Adam) Sherman of Winthrop; Courtney (Rob) Reinsmoen of Dubuque and Nicole Niehaus of Edgewood.
He is preceded in death by his father, and his maternal grandparents John & Marilyn Juergens.
