Emory "Wayne? Snyder, 77, of 5701 Gordon Ct NW, died Monday, November 10, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Cedar Hills Evangelical Free Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Randy Scheil. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Shueyville Cemetery, Shueyville, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Amy; five children, Dick (Jan) Hansell of Des Moines, Cass (Barb) Martin of Glenburn, Maine, Rick Snyder, Pam (Jake) Bulicek and Don (Jeri) Snyder all of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Mindy Wright, Angela Lucas, Mark Snyder, Wayne Snyder, Keri Bulicek, Ryan Bulicek, Jeremy Snyder, Nicole Allen and Colyn Snyder; 9 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Velma Allen of Perry, Iowa, Oats Arnold of Cedar Rapids, Vivian Deal of Boone, Iowa and Lee Kropuenske of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
Wayne was born June 12, 1926, the son of Emery and Florence Hutchens Snyder, in Yale, Iowa. Wayne served in the Navy throughout the South Pacific during WWII. On September 18, 1951, he married Marian "Amy? Deal in Des Moines, Iowa. He retired from Rockwell-Goss after serving 22 years as a purchasing agent. He was a member of VFW Post 788, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Hanford Post #5. Wayne enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, boating and traveling all around the United States in their RV and most of all, spending quality time enjoying his family. Diagnosed with cancer in September 2002, the long brave fight ended peacefully at 3:56 a.m. on Monday. Wayne will be greatly missed.
