Emma "Jane? Perez, 69, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside Committal Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Cemetery in Colesburg, Iowa. Service of Remembrance: 6 p.m. Friday, November 14, at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where the family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until service time.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Debra Jane Smith and husband Michael of Springville, David Edward Moore and wife Cheryl of Jesup, Sharon Ann Ransford and husband Don of Robins, Arnold Perez of Portland, Oregon, Joseph Perez of Salem, South Dakota, Linda Johnson and husband Rich of North Pole, Alaska and Carol Ann Perez of Sandy, Utah; eighteen grandchildren, including Jeremy Smith, Michelle Smith, Brad Ransford, Scott Ransford, Abby Moore, Alex Moore, Ryan Wienhold, Karen Wienhold, Jamie Perez, Caleb Perez and Zachary Perez; several great-grandchildren; and many special friends, including Millie Dawson, Carol Anderson and Colleen Perez.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; and a daughter, Diane Novak.

Jane was born February 9, 1934, the daughter of Harold Frank and Gladys Marie (Barnhart) Grimes in Colesburg. She graduated from Guttenburg High School in 1952. On March 30, 1981, Jane married Joseph Frank Perez in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He died January 31, 2003. She worked as a bookkeeper for MeToo grocery store in Marion for several years and later worked as a secretary at Linn County Department of Veterans Affairs. Jane also worked as a hostess at several different casinos in Sioux Falls.

Jane was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
