Emma H. Kephart, 73, of 1577 2nd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, in her home, following a brief illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005,
at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzan Horton of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Norman Thiessen, Francis Thiessen, Wanda Mauck, Bill Thiessen, Margaret Fetter, Bruce Thiessen and Babe Hubert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur; and a sister, Martha.
Emma was born April 26, 1932, the daughter of John and Mrytle Signs Thiessen, in Okeene, Oklahoma. In 1951, she married Arthur Kephart in Cedar Rapids. He died October 2, 2003. Emma worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring after 38 years of service and then worked for Longbranch Hotel for 8 years.
