Emil D. Tisl, 73, of Winthrop died August 19, 2012 at his home of cancer.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Manchester by Pastor Paddy Druhl. Visitation will be 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Burial of cremains will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Cedar Memorial Park, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Emil was born April 21, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Emil and Lenora (Vokolek) Tisl. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids. On October 24, 1987, Emil was united in marriage to Nadine (Ressler) Sandberg at Winthrop, IA.
Following graduation, he worked in the Cedar Rapids area for Cherry-Burrell, FMC and drove truck for Andrew Miller of Fairfax. Emil then started farming in 1967 near Winthrop, while continuing employment at FMC. Emil was also a truck driver for Wieland and Sons Lumber for 22 years.
Emil was a simple man with strong beliefs who thought of his family and friends first. He was a perfectionist with everything, especially in farming and maintaining his truck. He enjoyed harvesting crops with his neighbors, boating, fishing, dancing….. and having fun.
Emil is survived by his wife, Nadine; by two sons, Emil (Vanessa) Tisl, Jr and Jeff Tisl; two step children; Debbie (Dennis) Sandberg Becker and Terry Sandberg; seven grandchildren, Andrea and Ashley Tisl, Deanna Mollenhauer, Dustin Becker, JayDee, Jackie and Jennifer Sandberg; and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Danny Tisl; and very close friends, Bill Dolan and John Grover.
Emil was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lenora Tisl; and one stepson, Jerry Sandberg.
