Elwin George Pillard, 86, formerly of Coggon, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Marietta’s Place, Good Neighbor Home, Manchester. Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Zion Presbyterian Church, Coggon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.

Survivors include his children, Kenneth (Rosalyn) Pillard of Ryan, Dean (Mary) Pillard of Walker, Sue (Ron) Flemming of Ryan, Ann (Doug) Peyton of Coggon, Jan (Tom) Heims of Marion, and Mark Pillard of Coggon; 12 grandchildren, Kyle, Kali, Kyann, Dusty, Deana, Tyrone, Nathan, Alissa, Gwen, Whitney, Levi, and Logan; 9 great-grandchildren, Kora, Ethan, Tia, Tyson, Blake, Jasmine, Gavin, Gabriel, and Gage; and sister, Sharon (Jim) Price of Coggon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; one sister; and two brothers.

Elwin was born December 21, 1926, in Prairieburg, Iowa, the son of Paul and Myrtle (Mann) Pillard. He married Maxine Falconer on June 25, 1947. Maxine died January 10, 1992. Elwin was a lifelong farmer in Linn County, and later, became a Para educator. He was also a lifelong and active member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon.
