Elva M. (Brecht) Boyse, 105, of Marion, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. A celebration of Elva’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion with Inurnment at Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City, Iowa.
Elva was born on October 23, 1915, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Elsie (Freeman) Brecht. She was a graduate of Marengo High School. On May 8, 1937, Elva was united in marriage to Nyal W. Boyse in Cedar Rapids. Nyal passed away in 2005. She was employed in the bookkeeping offices of SunMart and Quaker Oats, and was later employed in the Management Loan Department of Iowa Securities Real Estate. Elva loved horses, painting, golf, bowling, music, playing cards, reading and travel. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed being with her family. As her family, we have been greatly blessed of God to have had Mom / Mamo for all these years and we will miss her dearly.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Gary (Janice) Boyse of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Karen (the late Roy) Wright of Marion, Iowa; six grandchildren, Colin (Dianne) Boyse, Stephen (Laura - fiancé) Boyse, Randy Boyse, Jayson Boyse, Krista Stepanek and Rhonda (Rod) Peyton; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including a special bond with her niece Jan (Greg) Bressler.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Nyal; parents, Charles and Elsie Brecht; sisters, Delores Thomas and Charlene McGee; brother, Gene Brecht; son-in-law, Roy Wright; and granddaughter-in-law, Mary Boyse.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hiawatha Care Center and Dr. Mary Anne Nelson for their loving care of Elva.
