Elsie B. Hubler, 98, formerly of Ryan, Iowa, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Golden Congregational Church, rural Ryan, with Pastor Mona Burns officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and for one hour before services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Golden Prairie Cemetery in rural Ryan.
Elsie was born on May 5, 1910, in Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of John & Leona (Wilson) Peters. She graduated from the Coggon High School. On June 21, 1930, Elsie was united in marriage to Max H. Hubler at the Methodist parsonage in Manchester. The couple lived in the Ryan area and Elsie worked as a cook for the Ryan School System. Max died July 26, 1992. Elsie lived in Cedar Rapids before moving to the Edgewood Convalescent Home.
Elsie was a former member of the Golden Congregation Church. She enjoyed crocheting and tending her garden.
Elsie is survived by two sons, Ronald Hubler [fiancé, Dixie Schindler] of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Donald M. [Peggy] Hubler of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren; and by a sister-in-law, Helen Hubler of Iowa City, Iowa.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Max Hubler; a infant daughter, Donna Hubler; three sisters, Mildred Nelson, Dorothy Edmonds and Berneice Turner; and by an infant brother.
