Elmer “Elmo” Stocker Jr., 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at home. Per Elmer’s request, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Elmer was born June 12, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Elmer Sr. and Helen (Kennedy) Stocker. He married Kay Janda on September 21, 2016, at The Sanctuary, in Cedar Rapids. Elmer was a devout Christian. He loved his God, his wife and his family with all his heart. Elmer attended First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids for 15 years.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Kay Janda of Cedar Rapids; son, Michael Stocker of Farmington, Iowa; grandchildren, Shay Lieb, Stephen Stocker, Craig Stocker; great-grandchild, Hunter Lieb; sister, Barbara (Gary) Swarts of Arizona; and his dog, Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests any donations to be for stomach cancer research at The University of Iowa.
