Elmer Arthur Duhme, 86, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, died Tuesday, October, 26, 2004, at the care center, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear, with military honors. Graveside Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004, at Pence Cemetery, rural Baldwin. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Beulah; a daughter, Nancy (Richard) McCoy of Cedar Rapids; a son, Fred (Elizabeth) Duhme of Roberts, Wisconsin; his brothers, Raymond Duhme, Albert (Margaret) Duhme, Kenneth Duhme, all of Maquoketa, Melvin (Jean) Duhme of Zwingle, Chester (Yvonne) Duhme of Hardy, Arkansas; and his sisters, Helen Spratt of Oelwein, and Arlene Tegmeier of Morristown, Minnesota.

Also surviving is a grandson, Michael McCoy of Los Angeles, California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half-brother, Harold Duhme and a sister, Thelma Blatt.

Elmer was born the son of Johann Heinrich Frederick and Mary Adeline (Campbell) Duhme on April 30, 1918, in Farmers Creek Township, Jackson County, Iowa. On August 25, 1946, in Maquoketa at the First Methodist Church he was married to Beulah Saunders by the Rev. Harry D. Green. He served in the U.S. Army as a T/5 Corporal during World War II attached with the 80th General Hospital in the Pacific arena in New Guinea, Philippines, and Luzon campaigns, earning two silver stars. Elmer farmed for many years before retiring. Elmer was a member of VFW 3633 and American Legion Marion Post 298.
