Elmer David "Dave" Frazier

Elmer David “Dave” Frazier, 81, of Alburnett, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Doris; son, Gary Frazier; daughters, Linda Hamilton, and Sheryl (Dennis) Perrin; grandchildren, Zachary (Courtney) Perrin, Megan (Pete) Clark, Josh Perrin, Chad and Kyle Hamilton; three sisters, Helen (Homer) Wilson, Mardelle (Clete) Reincke, and Naomi Mitchell; brother, Jim (Sonya) Frazier; brothers-in-law, George (Darlene Stacy) Weeks, and Dave Karr; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Grant; sister, Catherine Karr; and brothers-in-law, Howard Mitchell, Kenny Fuessley, and Wendell Weeks.
Dave was born April 23, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Elmer and Della Frazier. He served in the Army from February 13, 1951, to February 27, 1954, achieving the rank of Cpl. Dave was with the 1092 Combat Eng. Battalion, 8th Army I Corps in Korea from January 1952 to 1953. He worked at Iowa Manufacturing (Terex) for 39 years, retiring in 1995. Dave loved country music, playing his guitar, and enjoyed writing and recording his own songs. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and entertaining his grandchildren. Dave was a member of American Legion Post #298 of Marion and was an avid Hawkeye fan.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dave’s memory.
