Ellis "Jack? L. Horning, 69, of 264 35th Street Drive SE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, November 13, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2006, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 107 East First Street, Anamosa, by the Rev. Bryan Crousore. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; his children, Jackie (Marvin) Piva and Chrissy (Bob) Forry, both of Weed, California, Rick (Pam) Robertson of Las Vegas, Lori (Russell) Grush of Seattle, Washington, Mindy (Chad) Bascom of San Diego, California, and Amy (Jesse Throgmartin) Horning of Cedar Rapids; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bobette Trimble, Nancy (Greg) Hapgood, Gale (Bea) Horning and Nona Cummings, all of Marion, Jana (Paul) Seifferlein and Wendy (Rick) Arnold, both of Fort Mohave, Arizona, Mike (Sherry) Horning of Shellsburg, Jay Horning of Central City and Judy (Don) Nemec of Louisville, Kentucky; his in-laws, Junior and Ruth Edwards of Anamosa; and his brothers-in-law, Gary (Donna) Edwards of Anamosa, Darryl (Dee) Edwards, of Allen, Texas, Dick Trimble of Urbana and Al Busenbark of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marlene Trimble, Georgia Altman and Carol Busenbark; and a brother, Bobby Horning.
Jack was born July 24, 1937, the son of George and Maxine Davenport Horning in Vinton, Iowa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. On January 22, 1971, he was united in marriage to Linda D. Edwards in Cedar Rapids. Jack was self-employed as semi-truck driver.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Jack.
