Ella L. Riser, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Mercy Hallmar, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 12-2 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the funeral home, conducted by SanDee Skelton. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn (John) O’Connor and Cindy (Glenn Lonsdale) Starks; grandchildren, Mark Kelly, Katie Starks, Lynell, Gina and Nathan O’Connor; and great-grandchildren, Amber, Cadyn, Steele and Daylan; brothers-in-law, Charles (Esther) Riser and Ronald (Wilma) Riser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents; grandson, Shannon Starks; brothers, Victor (Genevieve) Buker, Peter (Irene) Buker, Melvin (Eleanor) Buker, Bill (Darlene) Buker; and sister, Camilla (Robert) Webber.
Ella was born on January 29, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Francis and Elsie (Mickelson) Buker. On September 6, 1945, George and Ella Riser were united in marriage in Lisbon, Iowa. She started working for National Oats when she was 16 and worked there for ten years until becoming a full time housewife. Ella loved being a mother, grandmother and housewife. She enjoyed crocheting, making doilies, afghans, crafts and also going to garage sales. Ella wintered in Florida for 33 years with her husband, George.
The family wants to give a special thank you for the excellent care by Hospice of Mercy and Mercy Hallmar.
