Elizabeth Cecilia Klimes, 90, died Saturday, December 16, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from complications of pneumonia. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermont. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Monday) at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Burial: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith (Robert) Sadilek; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (John) Labenski, of Edwards, Colorado, Julie (Jason) Mullett, of Cedar Rapids, Joel Sadilek, of Los Angeles, California, and Jennifer Sadilek of Cedar Rapids; 11 great-grandchildren, Sam Cummings, Jay, Jordan, Joel, Jackson, Jonah, Jacob, Joshua, Josie and Jospeh Mullett and Stefan Labenski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; two brothers, Stefan and Alexander; and a sister, Mary Kallas.
Elizabeth was born September 24, 1916, in Zliechov, Czechoslovakia, to George and Judith Brathko Kozik and moved to the United States as a young child. On July 15, 1936, she was united in marriage to Frank Klimes in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Elizabeth was a member of St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church. She worked with her husband at Toman Florist and enjoyed being a homemaker.
Elizabeth was dedicated to her family and enjoyed many celebrations and vacations with them. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
