Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Steger (Jaeger)

Betty J. Steger, 71, of Delhi, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Finley Hospital in Dubuque, following a brief illness with cancer.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi by Rev. John Kremer. Family will greet friends from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester. Friends may also call one hour before services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. John?s Cemetery, Delhi.
Betty was born August 8, 1935 in Worthington, the daughter of Emil and Mildred (Gudenkauf) Jaeger. She attended school in Worthington. Betty helped at her family?s restaurant, the E & M Caf? in Worthington and also at Ben Franklin in Dyersville. On January 4, 1954, Betty was united in marriage to Walter Steger at St. Paul?s Catholic Church in Worthington. The couple farmed near Delhi. Betty worked at the sewing factory in Dyersville and for the past 15 years as manager of the Wal-Mart snack bar in Manchester.
Betty was a member of St. John?s Catholic Church in Delhi. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and collecting Barbie dolls.
Betty is survived by her husband, Walter Steger of Delhi; two daughters, Jane (Steve) Bonert of Hopkinton and Diane (Mike) Sensibaugh of Glen Burnie, MD; two sons, Terry (Joan) Steger of Earlville and Doug Steger of Delhi; thirteen grandchildren; three sisters, LaVonne (Bob) Bierman of Farley, Ann (Mark) Winters of Earlville and Janice Staner of Worthington.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Jean Steger; grandson, Corey Bonert; daughter-in-law, Lisa Steger; two brothers, Donald and Louie Jaeger; and her sister, Mary Lou Schilling.
