Eleanor J. Wimer
December 17, 1931 — July 5, 2005
Eleanor J. Wimer, 73, of 435 34th St. NE, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at home, in her sleep. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Duane Hix. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside Service: 3 p.m. Friday at Friends Cemetery in New Sharon, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry; three sons, Allen (Julie) Wimer of Cedar Rapids, Steven (Carla) Wimer of Toddville and Jeffrey Wimer (Sherry Johnston) of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Becky (Steve) Harford, David (Marsha) Wimer, Kim (Tim) Johnson, Tyson Wimer, Melissa Wimer, Dustin Wimer and Britney Wimer; three great-grandchildren, Alivia Wimer and Kaitlynn and Kylee Harford; and special friend, her dog, Barney.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David.
Eleanor was born December 17, 1931, the daughter of Lawrence and Etta (Spain) Kading in Casey, Iowa. She graduated and was valedictorian in 1949 from Casey High School. Eleanor then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, graduating in 1951. On March 9, 1952, she married Jerry A. Wimer in Casey. Eleanor taught for five years in Pella and New Sharon. She then worked for nineteen years at Armstrong Department Store and ten years at Vigortone. Eleanor was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church and Wandering Wheels Camp Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous in Eleanor?s memory.
