Eleanor G. Jiroutek, 99, a resident of Crestview Acres, formerly of 922 9th Street SW, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at the care center, following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Will Jackson. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Studt and husband Carl of Springville; two grandchildren, Jon Studt and wife Judy and Janice Daft and husband Michael; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mark and Jacob Studt, Joseph and Paul Daft; special friends, Ray and Margaret Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Helen Vornholt, Elizabeth Skersick and Bessie Rayman; and a brother, Louis Konicek.
Eleanor was born January 11, 1904, the daughter of Frank and Eva Nechville Konicek, in Marion, Iowa. For 28 years, she worked for St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Eleanor was a member of the Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Quilters Club at the church. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her
