Eleanor V. Hootman, 84, of 1225 42nd Street, SE, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 14, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Marilyn Buchanan. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Morrison Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Anna (Ron) Ortery of Kirkwood, Illinois, Barbara Raue and friend Jim Daly of Clearwater, Florida, Larry (Clara) Hootman of Deming, New Mexico, Jan Money of Mesa, Arizona, Kenneth (Robin) Hootman of Cedar Rapids, David (Marian) Hootman of Safford, Arizona, Alice Hootman of Cedar Rapids, Paul (Jenny) Hootman of Van Horne, Mark Hootman of Burlington and Glenn Hootman; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ederyl Ortery of Kirkwood, Illinois, and Audrey Brown of Bonaparte, Iowa; two brothers, Eugene Ferrel of Florida and Jay Ferrel of Paducah, Kentucky; and four half-sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Joyce Kaye Hootman; a grandson, Bobby Dean Hootman; two brothers, James and Donald; and two sisters, Evon Brobston and Ethel Bishop.
Eleanor was born March 7, 1922, the daughter of Floyd and Beryl (Ransom) Ferrel, in Selma, Iowa. She worked for Lehigh-Leopold Furniture Factory in Burlington, Iowa, retiring in 1984.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Eleanor.
