Eleanor Jean Hegland

Eleanor Jean Hegland, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids with a visitation to begin one hour prior. Burial will follow at Czech National, Cedar Rapids.
Eleanor was born August 13, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William and Molly (Kroul) Volesky. She graduated from high school in Toddville, Iowa in 1951. On August 16, 1959, Eleanor was united in marriage to Dale “Bud” Hegland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Bud passed away January 1, 2022. She worked as a bookkeeper at People’s Trust & Savings Bank, US Bank and First Trust & Savings Bank. Eleanor enjoyed going to Bingo and spending time with her family. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Robert of Marion, Kevin (Kelly) of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff (Tenille) of North Port, Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Blanche Volesky.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, William and Molly; husband, Bud; siblings, Lawrence Volesky, Evelyn Thuerauf, John (Adeline) Volesky, and Marvin (Margie) Volesky.
