Eldon M. Schwartz, 74, of Marion, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, after a lengthy illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Calvary Baptist Church in Coggon, by the Rev. Darran J.Whiting. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, Coggon. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City from 4 - 8 p.m. today (Wednesday.)
Survivors include a son, Donald (Patty) Schwartz of Central City; a daughter, Donna (Brian) Novey of Martelle; and three brothers, Marion (Lorna) Schwartz, Wayne (Ida) Schwartz and Alfred (Shirley) Schwartz.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet; and a brother, Kenneth.
He was born February 15, 1932, in Jackson Township, Benton County, to John and Gertie (Burkey) Schwartz. On September 6, 1952, he was united in marriage to Violet Virginia Taylor in Cedar Rapids. She died November 7, 1995. Eldon was a farmer for eight years and a machinist for forty years, retiring in 1997.
A country music lover, Eldon collected music records and enjoyed traveling to Branson. He loved talking to friends and strangers.
A memorial fund has been established in Eldon?s name.
