Elden E. Clendennen, 75, formerly of Manchester, died on March 22, 2004 at the VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin following a short illness.

Inurnment with military rites will be at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester at a later date. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.

Elden Elsworth Clendennen was born the son of James E. and Jessie E. (Lamphiear) Clendennen on November 11, 1928 in Greeley, Iowa. Elden attended school in Greeley and graduated from Manchester High School in 1946. While in high school, he worked at Groves Pharmacy in Manchester. Elden worked as a head brakeman for the Illinois Central Railroad. In 1951, he was drafted by the Army to serve in the Korean Conflict. He then moved to California and worked in the shipping department at Tri-Valley Growers in Modesto. Elden retired in Oakdale, California before returning to Wisconsin in 1982.

Elden was a lifetime member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), V.F.W. and the American Legion Post #45. He loved listening to Big Band music on the sound equipment he collected. Elden enjoyed deep-sea fishing. His travels included Europe, Africa and Mexico.

Surviving Elden is his brother, Walter (Vanita) Clendennen of Manchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister, Caroline Clendennen.
