Elaine M. Kohl, 67, of 2937 Southland Street S.W., died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, after a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2005, at Grace Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Paul Fuessel. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Norman; a son Kevin (Annette) Kohl of Center Point; a daughter Lisa (Timothy) Carson of Shueyville; her mother, Adeline Cray of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Derek Kohl, Brianne Carson, Whitney Carson, Tyler Kohl, Tessa Kohl, Tallie Kohl, Jesse Elias and Jake Elias; one great-granddaughter, Natalee Kohl. Also surviving are two sisters, Barbara Cray and Judy (David) Douglas both of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Cray.
Elaine was born December 27, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Kenneth and Adeline (Larson) Cray. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1956. On July 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to Norman E. Kohl in Cedar Rapids. Elaine was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies and unicorns, traveling, and shopping.
