Elaine Mae Briggman, 91, of Dundee, Iowa, died Monday, May 2, 2016. Visitation will be from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Bohnenkamp - Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.

Elaine is survived by a daughter, Annette Steffen of Bloomington, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Briggman of Manchester; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Briggman, three children, Marilyn Herman, Merlyn “Butch” Briggman, and an infant, Debra Briggman; a grand-daughter, Marlene Briggman; and a sister, Earline Hartbeck.

Elaine was born on January 18, 1925, in Dundee, the daughter of Roy D. and Mildred H. (Robinson) Morris. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1943 and attended one year of college. On September 16, 1943, Elaine was united in marriage to Dean H. Briggman at the Earlville United Methodist Church. She worked as a waitress at the Elite Restaurant for nine years and at the Sale Barn for twenty-one years. Elaine was the bookkeeper and parts person for Fergeson Feed & Implement in Manchester for nine years and on Wednesdays kept books at the Sale Barn. In 1963, the couple moved north of Manchester where she helped Dean farm. Dean died May 30, 1993.

Elaine was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee, where she has held numerous positions. She volunteered at the food pantry, was a 4-H leader, served on the board of the Good Neighbor Home, was an Auxiliary member, and received the Governor’s Volunteer Award twice. She also volunteered for the Red Cross, Cancer Society and Thrivent for Lutherans.
