Eileen K. Timmer, 76, of Earlville, died Sunday morning, March 14, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, following complications of surgery.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Earlville with Rev. Herbert Tegeler presiding. Friends may call from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville. There will be a rosary service at 4:00 p.m. by St. Joseph?s Guild. Burial will be at St. Joseph?s Catholic Cemetery in Earlville.
Eileen was born the daughter of Frank & Margaret (Haas) Kroeger on December 18, 1927 in Petersburg. She attended school at St. Peter & Paul?s in Petersburg, St. Joseph?s in Earlville, and graduated in 1945 from Manchester High School. On November 11, 1947, Eileen was united in marriage to Edwin P. Timmer at St. Peter & Paul?s Catholic Church in Petersburg. The couple farmed near Edgewood with her uncle, Ben Kroeger. They later moved to farm near Greeley and in 1960 to a farm north Earlville. Edwin died in 1982. Eileen then moved into town.
Eileen was an active member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Earlville, serving on the Guild, as lector and as Eucharistic minister. She belonged to the Earlville Community Club and Delaware County Farm Bureau. Eileen volunteered her time at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester and with the reading programs at St. Joseph?s and Maquoketa Valley School. She was always there to lend a hand. Eileen enjoyed watching her grandchildren, gardening, playing cards and baking.
Survivors include her three children, Jim (Paula) Timmer of Delhi, Jane (Ryck) Mescher of Dyersville, and Jeanie (Richard) Andrus of Earlville; seven grandchildren, Jon & Amy Timmer, Jeremy Edwin & Justin Louis Mescher, Jayme & Adam Schlichte, Brian Jacobsmeyer; sisters-in-law, Martha Crane of Dubuque, Norma Spindler of Mason City, Laura McEvoy of Marietta, GA, Marie Kroeger of Earlville and Rose Kroeger of Petersburg.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin P. Timmer in 1982; four brothers, Jim, Laverne, Cletus, & Eugene Kroeger; and a son-in-law, Gary Schlichte.
