Eileen E. "Grandma? Schadey, 91, formerly of Manchester and Delhi, Iowa, died Sunday, January 18, 2004, at the Wyndcrest Nursing Home, Clinton, Iowa, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Manchester United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and for an hour before services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Eileen was born August 30, 1912, in Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Lester & Edith Hines. As a child Eileen resided in and attended school in various locations in Iowa and southern Minnesota due to her father working for the railroad. On July 14, 1929, Eileen married Walter A. Schadey in Manchester. The couple farmed in the Manchester and Delhi area. They retired in 1964 and moved to Guttenberg, Iowa. In 1985, they moved to Clinton, Iowa, to live with their daughter, Wilma. Walter passed away in 1994. Eileen moved into the Wyndcrest Nursing Home in Clinton.
Eileen attended the First United Methodist Church in Clinton. She loved the outdoors. Walter and her enjoyed fishing, bird watching, gardening and flowers. Eileen also enjoyed crafts and had a stuffed animal collection.
Eileen is survived by her daughter and her husband, Wilma Jean & John Priest of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jay (Jean) Priest, Dianne (Tom) Unsen, Lori Wharton and Robert Schadey; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased family members include her husband, Walter Schadey; her parents, Lester & Edith Hines; one son, Arthur Allen Schadey in 1984; one grandson, Joseph Allen Schadey; five brothers, Earl, Lyman, Emmett, Charles, and Harvey; and seven sisters, Edith, Mildred, Agnes, Cecil, Lillian, Alta, and Lavona.
