Eileen E. Savago, 85, of Masonville, died Tuesday afternoon, September 7, 2004, at her son?s home in Ryan, following an extended illness.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Masonville with Rev. Ivan Nienhaus officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Masonville.
Eileen was born the daughter of Frank M. and Teresa C. (Schaefer) Buser in Seneca, Kansas on December 30, 1918. She attended St. Peter and Paul Catholic School in Seneca, KS and Centralia Public School in Centralia, Kansas. In 1936, Eileen graduated from Corning High School in Corning, Kansas.
Eileen worked domestically before marriage. On November 23, 1937 she was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Savago in Corning, Kansas. The couple lived on the Savago home farm near Corning, Kansas. In 1948, they moved to the Masonville/Winthrop, Iowa area to farm. Lawrence died on January 12, 1978. Eileen moved to Masonville in 1986.
Eileen?s faith and service to her church was very important throughout her life. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Masonville where she belonged to the Rosary Society and served as an officer. She was involved in the study club, taught religion (CCD) classes, served as parish historian and was a member of the choir and ACCW.
Eileen is survived by her five children; JoAnn (Jim) Enos of Stockton, IL, Janice Rice of Combs, TX, Charles Savago of Masonville, Ronald (Nancy) Savago of Ryan and Valda (LaVern) Schaul of Masonville; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Alice (Winston) Churchill of Denver, CO and Maleta Ryan of Monrovia, CA; three brothers, Martin (Arlene) Buser of Temple City, CA, Donald "Donnie? (Mary Ann) Buser of Bishop, CA and Leonard (Norma) Buser of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Buser of Wonewoc, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence in 1978; a grandson, Jimmy Savago; a sister, Mildred Holthaus; three brothers, Walter, Kenneth and Gilbert Buser; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Ryan.
